A personalized approach to the elimination of age-related facial "sag" without distortion of the "personality of the face" make facelifts look "natural". Emphasis on correction of the neckline is important in balancing the facial lift with a youthful neck and chest. Forehead lifting and eyebrow reshaping can be added as needed. Upper and lower eyelid "tucking" can be useful, once facial positioning is achieved.

A facelift, technically known as rhytidectomy cannot stop this aging process, but it can help improve the most visible signs of aging by removing excess fat, tightening underlying muscles and redraping the skin of your face and neck. A facelift can be done alone, or in conjunction with other procedures such as a forehead lift, eyelid surgery, or nose reshaping.

The best candidate for a facelift is a man or woman whose face and neck have begun to sag, but whose skin still has some elasticity and whose bone structure is strong and well-defined. Most patients are in their forties to sixties, but facelifts can be done successfully on people in their seventies or eighties as well. Facelifts are very individualized procedures. In your initial consultation, Dr. Fisher will evaluate your face, including the skin and underlying bone and discuss your goals for the surgery.

A facelift usually takes several hours or longer if you are having more than one procedure done. For extensive procedures, Dr. Fisher may schedule two separate sessions.
